 President - Kevin Jones (Strata Health Solutions)

    With a reputation for integrity and accountability, Kevin is a leader in intelligent business development and intuitive client support. An industry veteran, he has a personal commitment to using the power of technology and innovation for good. 

     

    Kevin has lent his expertise to every level of healthcare information technology over the past 20 years, allowing him to grow and develop deep insight into the healthcare ecosystem.  His ability to bring the utmost in client support through change has allowed him to spearhead multiple software implementations both nationally and internationally.  He leads a team of client services professionals in delivering outstanding service to clients across all levels of health care organizations.


     Vice President - Nancy Walter (Alberta Innovates)


    Nancy is an experienced health-system leader motivated to co-create a health system that is person-centered and embraces innovative solutions. Currently, she serves as the Senior Business Partner for Health System Transformation at Alberta Innovates. Previously, she held positions within AHS where she led and supported the planning and implementation of large-scale, innovative care programs and policies. She holds a BSc in Laboratory Medicine and is currently completing her MHA at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and her Certified Health Executive Certification. Nancy has also served as the Co-Chair for Emerging Health Leaders in Edmonton and Calgary and as Communications Chair for Imagine Citizen Network.



     Secretary - Carolyn Trumper (Alberta Health Services)


    Carolyn is the Executive Director for the Integrated Quality Management, Nursing Professional Practice, Rural Clinical Education, Clinical Information Systems, Informatics and System Capacity for Central Zone AHS. Carolyn has been in healthcare for over 30 years and is a RN holding positions in clinical quality improvement, patient safety, accreditation, legislation and health policy. An accomplished health systems leader she has worked collaboratively across the health system in integration and improvement of complex systems through effective partnerships with clinicians, academia, government, health regulatory colleges and public agencies. Recent accomplishments include primary lead of the Zone EOC and Zone lead for system capacity through the COVID pandemic, recipient of the Alberta 2023 Queen Elizabeth 11 Platinum Jubilee Medal for contributions to healthcare, strategic operational implementation of EPIC Connect Care across Central Zone and the coalition for the 2021 implementation and expansion of the rural “Grow Your Own” BScN program in collaboration with the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary.


    Treasurer - Malcolm Steele (1414806 Alberta Inc.)


    Malcolm is an independent consultant whose primary focus has been on the health care industry. He has over 40 years of IM/IT experience with 25 years of health care experience in Alberta. He has held senior positions at Alberta Health Including Executive Director of both Information Technology and Information Management. His consultancy experience included the position of Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting and Consulting Director/Health Practice lead at Sierra Systems. Now retired, he has been a member of the ANHIX Board for over fifteen years having served as Vice-President, President and Past President. He is currently the  Treasurer, a position he has held for over ten years.



     Director - Sanjay Beesoon (Acute Care Alberta)


    Sanjay is a health systems leader, epidemiologist, implementation scientist and award-winning scholar, working at the interface of academic research, health care operations and health policy. Former International Fulbright Scholar (Master in Public Health -Epidemiology- University of Alabama at Birmingham)  in the United States and Alberta Innovates Health Solutions Scholar (PhD in Medical Sciences, University of Alberta) in Canada, with over 30 years of experience building interdisciplinary working relationships, trust and collaboration with government, non-profit organizations and academic institutions. Actively collaborate with major research stakeholders in Canada, namely Alberta Health, Alberta Innovates, Institute of Health Economics, CADTH, Canadian Science Policy Centre, ABSPORU, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, York University and University of Toronto. Currently, member of the Alumni Council at the University of Alberta.


    Director - Heidi Bronson (1414806 Alberta Inc.)


    Heidi is an independent consultant with over 25 years of IM/IT experience in the health care industry. She was the Manager, Information Services for 12 years with the Northern Lights Regional Health Authority before joining Medisolution, a healthcare software company as Director, Professional Services. In that role, she was responsible for the support, implementation and maintenance of Medisolution's client base outside of Quebec. She worked for Medisolution for 8 years before undertaking several assignments as an independant consultant. Now retired, she has been a member of the ANHIX Board for over eighteen years.




     Director - Robi Chamas (Cisco Canada Inc.)


      Robi has 20+ years in people, process, technology thought leadership with a major focus on healthcare and the public sector. He has held multiple leadership and executive positions with major partners to Healthcare organizations in the west. He is the Client Director, Healthcare with Cisco in the West and has previously served as President of ANHIX.






       Director - Teresa Davidson (Alberta Health Services)


      Teresa has been working as a Registered Nurse since 1997, specializing in Emergency Nursing. Over the past 20+ years, she has held various healthcare leadership roles. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of the Clinical Operations Informatics Office within Digital Health at Alberta Health Services. She is responsible for the implementation of Connect Care across diverse healthcare settings in Calgary and Southern Alberta, including urban, rural, community, and long-term care sites. Her role also encompasses provincial clinical informatics and digital health responsibilities for patient e-safety, surgical services, endoscopy/bronchoscopy, women's health, allied health, and emergency departments across Alberta.


      She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing with a Health Care Leadership focus from the University of Calgary (2008) and an Executive Education certificate (2014).


       Director - Adam Elwi (CGI)


      Adam is a Director Consulting Expert with CGI and provides senior management consultant services to clients in Alberta’s health sector. He has over 10 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams engaged in transforming how healthcare is delivered and measured in Alberta. He has extensive experience leading complex transformational change initiatives, providing expert advice to senior management teams and conducting complex business analyses.  He has deep expertise and relationships with stakeholders in Alberta’s health services delivery sector and understands the complexity of their delivery environment. His specializations include clinical business process analysis and re-design, quality improvement strategic planning, organizational change management, and implementation of complex operational programs.



       Director - Jennifer Jaros (Alberta Health Services)


      Jennifer is an accomplished healthcare leader holding dual nursing licenses in Alberta and Ireland, complemented by a Master of Nursing degree in Child and Young People’s Health from the University of Queensland. With 18 years of progressive experience in healthcare, including six in leadership positions, she currently serves as a Senior Advisor with Alberta Health Services. In this role, she is responsible for managing Provincial Critical Care Ordering Content. Jennifer is dedicated to advancing healthcare delivery through evidence-based practices, workflow optimization, quality metrics analysis, and change management, consistently driving improvements in patient outcomes and organizational performance.



       Director - Karen Kuhn (Accenture)


      Karen has 35+ years of health sector experience including >25 years leading digital health projects.  Her experience includes development, implementation, and support for various clinical systems, and integrations, in acute care, community, primary care, and consumer health.  She has led projects in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, NWT, Nunavut, as well as with Canada Health Infoway.  Karen has an MSc in Healthcare Informatics as well as PMP and CPHIMS-CA certifications.  Karen is currently an Associate Director with Accenture based in Calgary.




       Director - Andrea Locke (CGI)


      Andrea is a Director, Consulting Services at CGI, where she leads digital health initiatives. With a Master's degree in Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Innovation and Design from the University of Calgary, Andrea brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and strategic insight to her role. Her background includes frontline nursing in both hospital and community settings, as well as leadership in managing Primary Care Network clinics in Calgary. Andrea is dedicated to advancing healthcare innovation and improving patient outcomes through technology-driven solutions.





      Director - Damon Palmer


      • Damon spent 25 years in the UK as NHS Director Health Systems Strategy, Integration & Transformation, National Policy & Strategy, Advisor to the Prime Minister’s office. Director Integrated Care Systems oversight to large scale service redesign and multi-year service redesign across care pathways, services/sectors, HHR-Workforce, Data & Digital Roadmap, Demand Management, Population Health Management, Capital & Estates.


        He moved to Canada in 2018, working with McGill University Hospitals as a Senior Manager for Genomics Precision Medicine, AI Digital Transformation  & ML. Recently he worked for Alberta Health Primary Care/MAPS, Continuing Care Transformation, with Alberta Innovates, UofA and IHE on health systems strategic direction setting.


      • Director - Karen Schmidt (Alberta Health Services)


      • Karen is currently an Executive Director in Clinical Operations Informatics Office, Digital Health, at Alberta Health Services providing leadership and supporting organizational change management, implementation and optimization of Connect Care, one of Canada’s largest digital health transformations.  With a registered nurse background, she has over 25 years over healthcare leadership experience driving strategic transformation, organizational change, leadership development,  innovation and health informatics. 





       Director - Peter Smith (Strata Health)


      Peter is the President of Strata Health which is a wholly owned VitalHub Company. Strata Health specializes in intelligent patient navigation throughout the continuum of care, including eReferrals, central intake, waitlist management, and transitions of care. He has worked for more than 30 years in technology across several industries including healthcare, transportation, eCommerce, banking, and construction.   Peter has been a member of the ANHIX board since 2014 and served as Vice President in 2016/2017 and President in 2017/2018.
