Board of Directors

  • President, Greg Thorsley (CGI)

  • Greg is currently accountable for Alberta Health for CGI in the position of VP, Consulting Services.  This position includes oversight of all aspects of the account which includes initiatives within eHealth, Alberta Continuing care, Provincial Surveillance, and other applications that CGI develops and supports.  Previous to CGI I was responsible for Health within Sierra Systems accountable for the Canadian portfolio.  Mr. Thorsley is a Computer Engineer and obtained his MBA in 2001.

  • Vice-President, Michael Craig (Orion Health)
    • Michael is a Vice President of National Solutions with Orion Health responsible for promoting Orion Health solutions and partner solutions into the Canadian Marketplace. Michael has led multiple Electronic Health Record (EHR) initiatives across Canada and in Australia and has had direct involvement in solution architecture, clinical requirements gathering and clinical workflow mapping. He has held consulting positions with Accenture, PWC, Shared Medical Systems (SMS) and Electronic Data Systems (EDS).  

  • Past President, Sherry Nicholaichuk (Alberta Health Services)
    • Sherry is the Director of Integration Services at Alberta Health Services (AHS) leading pHIE (Provincial Health Information Exchange),  Regional Integration, ICC (Integration Coordination Centre) and EMR BIS (Business Integration Services) teams at AHS.  She works closely with Alberta Health to deliver solutions that support the Electronic Health Record.  

    • Treasurer,  Malcolm Steele (1414806 Alberta Inc.) 
  • Malcolm is an independent consultant focusing on the health care industry. He has over 25 years of health care experience and over 40 years of IM/IT experience. He has held senior positions at Alberta Health and various consulting companies. He has been a member of the ANHIX Board for over ten years having served as Vice-President, President and Past President. He is the current Treasurer, a position he has held for six years.

  • Secretary, Kathy Ervin (Alberta Health Services)
    • Kathy has a keen interest in health informatics and extensive experience with integration and lab information and recent experience in the diagnostic imaging systems realm. She led and served on many volunteer boards in her community and has training in the Board development program sponsored by the Government of Alberta Wildrose foundation. She has been in Healthcare for 35 years – over half of which has been in a variety of health system analyst and leadership roles. She is well connected within Alberta Health Services IT and Alberta Health IT Healthcare initiatives. She feels she can contribute to the continuing evolution of bringing groups together in the quest for sustainable and effective Health IT systems and information.

    • Heidi Bronson (1414806 Alberta Inc.)
    • Heidi is an independent consultant with over 25 years of health care experience. She was  the Manager, Information Services for 12 years with a regional health authority and  Director, Professional Services for 8 years with a healthcare software company. She is one  of the longest serving Board members.

    • Brett Duncan, (Ricoh Canada Inc.)

    Brett is a Client Executive with Ricoh Canada Inc., supporting the public sector. He has held various director positions for over 10 year in the IT industry and has spent over twelve years working with public sector accounts and organizations.  He is a long-time member of ANHIX and has served previously as both a Board member and President.

      • Kevin Jones (Strata Health Solutions)

      • Kevin is the Vice President of Client Development & Strategic Partnerships at Strata Health Solutions and has been in Healthcare Technology for 16 years.  He has participated in large and small solution deployments within the health sector both as an Executive Sponsor and Project Lead.  His experience collaboratively designing solutions would bring a strength to the ANHIX board.  Kevin looks to increase collaboration between private industry and public sector to ensure the success of all digital health projects.    As a member of both Digital Health Canada and CHIEF (Canada’s Health Informatics Executive Forum) Kevin brings national perspective to the Alberta Network for Health Information eXchange Society.

      • Keanan Largo-Afonso (spunk>)

      • After graduating with a degree in Biochemistry and Business, Keanan’s career in healthcare started during the boom of the pharmaceutical industry, working in medical education and oncology drug sales. Keanan then transitioned into an IT focused role at IBM, supporting healthcare organizations and research institutions with a portfolio of solutions that include cloud, security and augmented intelligence.  Keanan is excited to provide a fresh perspective on Alberta’s healthcare ecosystem and make connections with health-tech clusters in universities and start-up incubators across the province. With 6 years of experience in the industry, Keanan is enthusiastic to work with leaders in Alberta and be committed to an organization that is mandated to create a Smarter Healthcare environment.

      • Don McIntosh (University of Calgary)

    He has 28+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, of which 6+ have been in the IT side of healthcare. He is a former clinician with comprehensive experience gained in the requirements and impacts of healthcare delivery and clinical information system development and deployment. As a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), he brings root cause solution finding, change management and strategic analysis skills to all engagements. 

    • Brinda Narayan, (CGI)

    Brinda is a management consulting professional who has been on Alberta’s health transformation journey for over 17 years. She has held multiple roles such as executive consultant, strategy/change management consultant, client relationship manager, project lead, and program QA manager. She has been involved in many digital health initiatives and has developed deep relationships with its stakeholders.

    At CGI, Brinda is a Director, Consulting Services on a health project. She has recently accepted a position on one of Health City’s working groups, with a goal to collaborate with key players in industry and government to make a difference in our province. 

    • Geoff Rabbie (KPMG)

    • Geoff is a Manager in the Digital Health Practice at KPMG in Edmonton. His 20 years of healthcare experience is focused on strategic planning, project management, program management, system implementation, business analysis, portfolio management, operational support, change management and stakeholder engagement. He has worked on ehealth initiatives across Canada including the Atlantic Provinces, Ontario, the Northwest Territories and Alberta. In addition to being a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and trained in PROSCI change management, Geoff has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and serves as a Public Member on the Council of the College of Dieticians of Alberta.  

    • Bob Silversides (Alberta Health)

    Bob has been with Alberta Health for 6+ years and is currently Manager, eHealth Information Governance.  Bob has 27+ years of comprehensive Information Management and Technology experience in project/portfolio management, strategic and governance planning and business applications development/support. As a certified PMP, Bob has been responsible for the development of project practices, tools, processes and methodologies in the delivery of health care solutions and in the strategy, development and management of the Provincial Alberta Health Information Governance Structure.

    Peter Smith (Strata Health Solutions Inc.)

    • Peter is the Executive Vice President of Strata Health, a company that specializes in intelligent patient navigation throughout the continuum of care.  He has worked for more than 20 years in technology across several industries including healthcare, transportation, eCommerce, banking, and construction.   Peter has been a member of the ANHIX board since 2014 and served as Vice President in 2016/2017 and President in 2017/2018.
