President, Peter Smith (Strata Health Solutions Inc.)
  • Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, has worked for 22 years in Information Technology, specializing  in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Product Development.  Peter spent 3 years working in Information Technology  with  Calgary Laboratory Services in the role of Quality Assurance Advisor, and Manager, Project Office, and is now the VP of  Technology at Strata Health.  Working at both Strata Health and Calgary Laboratory Services has provided valuable insight into the  performance of the health system with respect to patient flow, Electronic Health Record components, and the challenges and  successes with Health Informatics across the EHR.

Vice President, Sherry Nicholaichuk (Alberta Health Services)
  • Sherry is the Director of Integration Services at Alberta Health Services (AHS) leading pHIE (Provincial Health Information Exchange),  Regional Integration, ICC (Integration Coordination Centre) and EMR BIS (Business Integration Services) teams at AHS.  She works closely with Alberta Health to deliver solutions that support the Electronic Health Record.  


  • Past President, Randy Duguay (Salu Design Group)

    Randy is currently the CEO, Salu Design Group, which is creating a world-leading wearable technology and personal health information platform.  Randy worked with TELUS for 25 years, including 10 years as part of TELUS Health from it’s beginning stages in 2002 as one of the founding members – where he lead a number of health-tech development initiatives, ventures reviews, and in consumer health strategic initiatives.  He has served on the ANHIX Board since 2014.

      • Treasurer,  Malcolm Steele (1414806 Alberta Inc.) 
    • Malcolm is an independent consultant focusing on the health care industry. He has over 25 years of health care experience and over 40 years of IM/IT experience. He has held senior positions at Alberta Health and various consulting companies. He has been a member of the ANHIX Board for over ten years having served as Vice-President, President and Past President. He is the current Treasurer, a position he has held for six years.


    • Secretary,  Heidi Bronson (1414806 Alberta Inc.)

    • Heidi is an independent consultant with over 25 years of health care experience. She was  the Manager, Information Services for 12 years with a regional health authority and  Director, Professional Services for 8 years with a healthcare software company. She is one  of the longest serving Board members.

    • Charles Aram (Deloitte)
    • Charles is a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting and a member of Deloitte’s national healthcare practice with a focus on Alberta.  Built on a solid foundation of skills across program, project, change management and enterprise architecture, He has successfully enabled health interoperability initiatives across the continuum of care in both Canada and the UK.  His key goals in work are centered around enabling better healthcare through the appropriate provision of health information to the people who need it to make a difference.



    Michael Craig (Orion Health)
    • Michael is a Vice President of National Solutions with Orion Health responsible for promoting Orion Health solutions and partner solutions into the Canadian Marketplace. Michael has led multiple Electronic Health Record (EHR) initiatives across Canada and in Australia and has had direct involvement in solution architecture, clinical requirements gathering and clinical workflow mapping. He has held consulting positions with Accenture, Shared Medical Systems (SMS) and Electronic Data Systems (EDS).


    • Wendy Dupree (IBM)
    • Wendy Dupree is an Associate Partner with IBM, and has been active in the healthcare industry for 15 years, and in the IT industry for 27 years.  She has been responsible for the development and delivery of drug information, public health and health surveillance systems across Canada.  Wendy is currently managing the healthcare, transportation and infrastructure consulting practices for IBM in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. 


      • Kathy Ervin (Alberta Health Services)
      • Kathy has a keen interest in health informatics and extensive experience with integration and lab information and recent experience in the diagnostic imaging systems realm. She led and served on many volunteer boards in her community and has training in the Board development program sponsored by the Government of Alberta Wildrose foundation. She has been in Healthcare for 35 years – over half of which has been in a variety of health system analyst and leadership roles. She is well connected within Alberta Health Services IT and Alberta Health IT Healthcare initiatives. She feels she can contribute to the continuing evolution of bringing groups together in the quest for sustainable and effective Health IT systems and information.


    • Steve Martinello (Online Business Systems)
    • Steve leads Online’s health practice in Alberta and has been fortunate enough to have worked in a wide variety of health care initiatives across the continuum of care in Alberta over the last 11 years.  With over 20 years of IT and business experience Steve has a proven track record of leading successful initiatives involving large, complex, multiple stakeholder projects in both the private and public sector.



    • Don McIntosh (Sierra Systems)

    Don is a Lead Consultant with Sierra Systems. He has 28+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, of which 6+ have been in the IT side of healthcare. He is a former clinician with comprehensive experience gained in the requirements and impacts of healthcare delivery and clinical information system development and deployment. As a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), he brings root cause solution finding, change management and strategic analysis skills to all engagements. Currently he is a management consultant with the Health Practice at Sierra Systems.





    Mike Miller (EY Canada)

    Mike leads the Health Technology practice for EY Canada bringing over 15 years of experience in data management, data integration, health informatics and data analytics.  He has worked with large public and private health care organizations and systems across North America on projects ranging from Clinical Information Systems, Population Care, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Benchmarking and Strategic Planning.  His primary strength is in helping organizations solve complex business problems with the use of enabling technologies.  Mike’s success has been built off his diverse experience in a number of different industries including Healthcare, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and High Tech. 

      • Bob Silversides (Alberta Health)


      Bob has been with Alberta Health for 6+ years and is currently Manager, eHealth Information Governance.  Bob has 27+ years of comprehensive Information Management and Technology experience in project/portfolio management, strategic and governance planning and business applications development/support. As a certified PMP, Bob has been responsible for the development of project practices, tools, processes and methodologies in the delivery of health care solutions and in the strategy, development and management of the Provincial Alberta Health Information Governance Structure.




      Ross Sweetzir (CISCO)

      • Ross’ career in Health Care technology started in July of 1992, where he facilitated the first full time connection to the Internet at Alberta Hospital Edmonton and subsequently the Alberta Mental Health Board.  Since then, his career has included participation on a number of projects including the original delivery of the NetCare Portal and its expansion to Provincial NetCare.  After 25 Years, he remains committed to advancing and improving Heath Care through technology, and looks forward to the opportunity standing for the ANHIX board represents.



      Greg Thorsley (CGI)


      Greg is currently accountable for Alberta Health for CGI in the position of VP, Consulting Services.  This position includes oversight of all aspects of the account which includes initiatives within eHealth, Alberta Continuing care, Provincial Surveillance, and other applications that CGI develops and supports.  Previous to CGI I was responsible for Health within Sierra Systems accountable for the Canadian portfolio.  Mr. Thorsley is a Computer Engineer and obtained his MBA in 2001.
